I was appointed as an academic surgeon to the University of East Anglia in 2010, funded in part by the Anthony Long Trust. I am a leading expert in rhinology and olfactology, currently serving as Professor of Rhinology & Olfactology at the University of East Anglia (UEA) and Honorary Consultant Rhinologist with the Norfolk & Waveney ENT Service. I am internationally recognised for my work on smell and taste disorders, chronic rhinosinusitis and endoscopic sinus surgery. I established the UK’s first Smell and Taste Clinic in 2010 and have led numerous research initiatives, including the MACRO Programme, a £3.8 million NIHR-funded trial involving 514 patients across 21 UK centres.
I graduated from Leicester University Medical School, completed specialist training in East Anglia, and undertook advanced surgical training at the St Paul’s Sinus Centre in Vancouver. I also trained at the Dresden University Smell and Taste Clinic, enhancing my expertise in olfactory assessment and research.
